He is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Cambridge, where he teaches on Latin American literature and culture at the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages, at the Centre of Latin American Studies, and at King’s College. He is the author of Literature, Testimony, and Cinema in Contemporary Colombian Culture: Spectres of La Violencia (Boydell and Brewer, 2008), and co-editor of Latin American Popular Culture: Politics, Media, Affect (Boydell and Brewer, 2014), Latin American Cultural Studies: A Reader (Routledge, 2017), and Transnational Spanish Studies (Liverpool University Press, 2020). His current research is on the cultures of the Magdalena River in Colombia during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
