Abstract

This article analyzes the poetic voice of Colombian writer Manuel Mejía Vallejo in the image of Balandú, his fictional universe. From a panoramic approach, this paper studies three central issues in the narrator’s creative proposal: the poetics of space in Balandú, the strength of his terrestrial images, and the way he reflects Andean thought.

Eliana María Urrego-Arango, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana

She holds a PhD in Literature from University of Salamanca (Spain), an MA in Collective Health from University of Antioquia (Colombia), and a Psychology degree from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Colombia). She is a professor and researcher in the School of Social Sciences’ Department of Psychology (Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana). Her current projects are focused on the work of Manuel Mejía Vallejo and interrelations between literature and social sciences, studying issues like the symbolization of space and the territory as a narrative.
