Marcela Velasco, Colorado State University

She is an associate professor of Political Science at Colorado State University where she specializes in Latin American Politics, social movements, environmental politics, and ethnic politics. Her research analyzes indigenous and Afro-Colombian organizations and how they shape local politics, including the management of natural resources. She has published in the Latin American Research Review, Journal of Latin American Studies, Journal of Environment and Development, and Local Environment, as well as in various books on social movements and Colombian politics.
