He holds a Ph.D in Latin American Literature from University of Maryland, College Park, and is currently professor of Latin American and Caribbean literature at Central Connecticut State University. His collaborations have  appeared in Anthropos, Quimera, Revista de Estudios Colombianos, Hispamérica, Estudios de Literatura Colombiana, Revista UdeA, Aleph, Mapocho, Acta Literaria and Inti, among other publications. He is currently working on a research project entitled "Andrés Bello: the literary critic."
