She received her masters and PhD degrees in Spanish and Literature from Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana. She is currently a Professor of Spanish, Literature and Cultures at Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana. Her areas of interest include: peripheral writings amidst the Colombian armed conflict, gender studies and popular culture.
