Elvira Sánchez-Blake

Writer, journalist and scholar. She is a retired professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature and Culture at Michigan State University. Currently she works for the publisher house Fundación Memoria Cultural, based in Florida. Ph.D. and MA in Hispanic Literature and Latin American Studies (Cornell University), MPS in Communication (Cornell University) and BA in Communication and Journalism (Javeriana University, Bogotá, Colombia).  She has published the novel Espiral de silencios (Beaumont eds, 2009 and Memoria Cultural, 2020), translated as Spiral of Silence by Lorena Terando (Northwestern UP, 2019).  Her publications also include Voces Hispanas Siglo XXI: Entrevistas con autores (with M.N Stycos,Yale UP, 2005); El universo literario de Laura Restrepo (with Julie Lirot, Taurus, 2007), and Latin American Women and the Literature of Madness (with Laura Kanost, McFarland, 2015).

She has been the editor of Revista de Estudios Colombianos and currently is the editor of the Miami-based publisher Fundación Memoria Cultural
