Abstract

This review deals with two books written by Carlos Alberto Velasco entitled Natanael Díaz: precursor of the pedagogy of racial pride and another work by Luis Carlos Castillo entitled Natanael Díaz, a poet in the labyrinths of politics (intellectual and political biography); both researches seek to exalt the pedagogical, intellectual and political thought of a classic Afro from northern Cauca. These texts are important because they recognize the fundamental role of a politician and orator like Natanael Díaz in a context of structural racism, for the construction of the Afro-Colombian social movement in phenomena such as the Club del Negro, the Afro trade union movement and the political insertion of Afros between the 40s and 60s of the twentieth century in Colombia.
