Abstract

This paper proposes that the current complex dynamics and relations among Colombians, as well as their intolerance and brutality, taking the nationals living in the city of Miami as representative sample, are closely linked to the discipline and social control exercised by the elites through football (soccer) since the second half of the 20th century in such a way that this sport becomes a political tool that is used to normalize and perpetuate principles of hierarchy, authority, ultranationalism, anti-unionism, misogyny and even fascism. Thus, through such a coercion, Colombians are driven to embrace an extreme right-wing ideology.
